FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Science Academy Software makes Web-based Testing and Assessment software available for FREE!

Bronx, N.Y., November 3, 2006 Science Academy Software®, an educational software developer, has announced it is making Test Servlets, the Java™ servlet software for browser-based testing and assessment, available for free.

Introduced September 2001, Test Servlets present fill-in, true/false, multiple choice test questions [individually or aggregately], track students as they take tests, and deliver immediate results. Tests support user-defined images and sound on IE4.0 or later. Test Servlets measure and display results that can be saved, printed, or emailed for further review--a benefit for learners, teachers, testing and training organizations, distance and homeschool learners. The cross-browser delivery software is ideally suited for the K-12 Education and Occupational Training.

Teachers can author tests with WebTest, a test formatting tool (also available for free), and FTP their test files to a Java Web server for administration. WebTest has a simple user interface for creating test files that are read by the servlets. WebTest also creates the HTML needed to run the test. The servlets support multiple tests and users.

Test Servlets run on a variety of Java Web servers supporting Java™ Servlet Specification 2.4, to include: Apache Tomcat 5.5, having J2SE 5.0 or later server configurations. The servlet strategy complements existing and newer Web-based instruction, overcomes most common technical barriers to platform independence (PC, Mac Linux). This servlet strategy provides numerous benefits that include security and scaleability.

Licensing requirements give users the free use of the software subject to the terms of their License agreement. Test Servlets offers the lowest cost alternative to purchasing or crafting testing Web apps in-house.

The company hopes that by making the software free the Test Servlets would be adopted by the educational community and implemented ubiquitously. This would help the millions of students throughout the world benefit from using this testing and assessment methodology.
